The Beginning: When “Surviving” Wasn’t Enough
Spring 2025 was not supposed to be the season we started a business.
Like many families, we were busy, working hard, juggling schedules, doing everything we were supposed to do to keep life moving forward. But if we were honest, we weren’t living… we were surviving. Our days felt full, but not necessarily meaningful. We both had this growing desire to be more present at home, more available to our kids, and more intentional with how we spent our time.
Then came a conversation that changed everything.
A mom from our kiddos' school, Megan with Yard Pop, approached us to let us know she was in the process of selling her business. She asked if we might be interested in buying it.
At first, it felt random. Unexpected. Slightly terrifying.
But sometimes opportunity doesn’t knock, it casually mentions it’s moving and wonders if you want the house.
Deep down, the idea stirred something that had been planted years earlier. Back in 2022, during one of the most demanding seasons of my forensic psychology career, I felt a quiet but persistent pull toward a single word though I often have a difficult time discerning God's voice:
Cultivate.
Cultivate our family.
Cultivate presence.
Cultivate a slower, more meaningful life.
So we said yes, not because we had it all figured out, but because we believed this could be the first step toward building something different.
We didn’t know it yet… but this was only the beginning.
